Service Description

This class is an introduction to the properties, usage and limitations of acrylic and oil paints as working mediums. The usage of brushes, liquid mediums, painting surfaces and other tools will be demonstrated and discussed while we explore various ways to execute personal approaches within the 2-dimensional surface. A combination of group and personal projects, along with individual attention will be offered, as well as instruction in rendering skills such as sight-sizing and basic linear perspective. Other related subjects may be covered as time and interest allow.

Parking

  • Metered parking on the street

  • Paid parking in the President’s Parking Lot located on Seville Ave. From either direction, look for the National Park Visitors Center on the corner of Hancock St. & Seville Ave. to park. The QArts Gallery is directly across the street from the National Park Visitors Center and Quincy College.

  • Weekends: Free parking behind the QArts Gallery in the MBTA lot. From either direction look for Starbuck’s on the end of our block on Hancock St. At that traffic light turn into the MBTA entrance and parking lot. You will need to walk a short distance around to the gallery’s front entrance on Hancock Street.
